A petty thief (Downey) posing as an actor is brought to Los Angeles for an unlikely audition and finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation along with his high school dream girl (Monaghan) and a detective (Kilmer) who's been training him for his upcoming role. MacGyver: The Complete Sixth Season
(1990-91) Richard Dean Anderson Six-disc set, $36.99. (Paramount). Macgyver is a walking, talking Swiss Army Knife. He could take out an entire division of commandos with a gum wrapper, a paper clip and some string.

Ok, The Princess Bride is not an actual crime film, but it does contain kidnapping, murder and revenge. It is also a true cinematic classic. Perhaps the finest fairy tale ever told.
